We are looking for a Homeownership Specialist to join our team!

Downstreet is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Homeownership Specialist to coordinate and implement homeownership and landlord repair loan programs. This person will help low- and middle-income homebuyers achieve their dream of homeownership in Central Vermont.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer email and phone inquiries regarding homeownership programs.
  • Perform client intake with customers for homeownership services; process new applicants.
  • Provide one-on-one pre-purchase counseling services for the purpose of developing mortgage ready buyers.
  • Track intake and client progress using Salesforce client information system and other tools.
  • Manage homebuyer education workshops, both in person and through eHome America.
  • Assist clients to utilize eHome training; perform follow up meeting.
  • Resolving closing in Housing Counselor; close out client files.
  • Provide financial counseling to Green Mountain Home Repair program applicants, as needed.
  • Develop and implement Financial Wellness Program, include developing procedures, paper and electronic files, agenda for one-on-one meeting; close out of files.
  • Build and maintain accurate, confidential and complete client files; including electronic and paper files. Enter notes about all client interactions in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education

  • 2 years of experience in mortgage lending, financial counseling/coaching or an equivalent combination of education, employment, and life experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn relevant software
  • Highly organized with a strong ability to manage priorities and deadlines and ability to manage confidential information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, active listening skill and problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion and social and economic justice
  • Valid Vermont Driver’s License and personal vehicle

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer

Compensation

The annual salary for this position is $43,000 - $45,000 per year.
