Green Mountain Home Repair

The Green Mountain Home Repair (GMHR) program helps homeowners address the health, safety, and energy-efficiency of their homes.

We offer grants up to $5,000 and low-cost loans with flexible terms up to $20,000 to qualified homeowners in Washington, Orange, and Lamoille counties.

GMHR grants and loans can be used for:

  • Reimbursement for materials
  • Replacement of hot water heaters, boilers, and electrical systems
  • Repairs to plumbing and roofing
  • Accessibility modifications
  • Energy upgrades

Who Qualifies?

In order to participate in GMHR, your total household income must be less than 80% of the area median income for your county* (see table below). Please call to verify your eligibility.

Special exceptions may apply to historic homes and/or homes that may contain lead paint or hazardous building materials.

The home must be your primary residences and no more than four units, and must be located in Washington, Orange, or Lamoille County.
