We are looking for a Homeownership Services Assistant to join our team!

Downstreet is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Homeownership Services Assistant to coordinate and assist clients with homeownership services. This person will help low- and middle-income clients achieve their dream of homeownership and help current homeowners secure funds to rehab their homes for health and safety issues in Central Vermont.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide community outreach, education and promote all Downstreet’s homeownership services.

  • Answer and return calls to clients inquiring about services offered through the Homeownership Center.

  • Help potential homebuyers, homeowners, and qualifying landlords’ complete applications and support them throughout the program process.

  • Review shared equity applications for eligibility to include: income verification, credit review, and underwriting of application to funder requirements.

  • Help create marketing materials for programs offered through the department.

  • Assist and support education counselors within person and online education classes.

  • Mail out monthly bill statements and delinquency notifications to homeowners.

  • Help maintain quality record keeping of client files in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Complete all administrative duties related to the position, including client follow-up, program monitoring, record keeping and reporting.

  • Provide support to the Homeownership team.

  • Work collaboratively with partnering agencies and partners.

Experience and Education

  • High school diploma and 2 years of experience in administrative work or other relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, employment, and life experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn relevant software

  • Highly organized with a strong ability to manage priorities and deadlines and ability to manage confidential information

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, active listening skill and problem-solving abilities

  • Commitment to equity and inclusion and social and economic justice

  • Valid Vermont Driver’s License and personal vehicle

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time

Compensation

The annual salary for this position is $50,000 - $55,000 per year.
