Downstreet is seeking a mission-driven Homeless Services Case Manager to work directly with guests at the Speranza Inn, our homeless services hotel. The role involves direct service work with guests, coordination with community service agencies, and a trauma informed approach to promote positive outcomes and a safe living environment for guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Director and hotel team to:
- Address policy/rule violations with guests in order to avoid discharge
- Address guest conflicts
- Assist guests with completion of required housing paperwork
- Attend weekly Speranza Inn team meetings
- Proactively contact new guests using personal introductions, meetings, door knocking, and other techniques that may be required to make initial and ongoing contact with each individual to support successful engagement
- Work with guests to ascertain needs and assist in identifying and accessing applicable services/resources offered by partner agencies as appropriate
- Provide information and referral assistance to area agencies
- Act as an advocate for guests as appropriate
- Participate in Community Partner meetings as needed
- Assist with Guest intake and exit as necessary by coordinating with State and Local agencies as well as Speranza staff.
- Provide support to guests moving into housing or out of the hotel to ensure needs are identified and met.
- Provide education and support to guests to help them to become self-sufficient.
- Advocate for residents when appropriate; advocate for Speranza when appropriate
- Offer guests and referring agencies support to design and implement service plans focused on housing stability and life skills
- Establish and maintain good working relationships, ongoing liaison with, and an in-depth knowledge of the services available from community organizations including but not limited to Washington County Mental Health Services, Family Center of Washington County, Good Samaritan Haven, Turning Point and others.
- Complete all necessary client- or program-related documentation in a timely manner
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, and 2 years of experience in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, employment, and life experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other relevant software.
- Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness and a commitment to ensuring compassionate, trauma-informed services.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, active listening skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to equity and inclusion and social and economic justice.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer
- Must be able to climb stairs and lift 25 pounds at a time
Compensation
Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 annually
