In addition to our apartments and lots in our manufactured home communities, we develop and manage special needs housing and commercial facilities.

How To Apply For An Apartment
There are two ways to apply for a Downstreet apartment: signing up for our Vacancy Notification List to be notified when an apartment becomes available, or by completing the application for one of our subsidized properties.

Application for a Subsidized Property
We maintain a waitlist for Downstreet's five subsidized properties: Colonial Village, Downstreet Apartments, Evergreen Place, Hebert Farms, Mad River Meadows. To be added to a waitlist for one of these properties, please complete a Downstreet application. Once you have submitted an application, you will remain on a waitlist until you are offered a unit by Downstreet, no longer need a unit, or do not respond to a waitlist mailing.
There are three ways to pay your rent: If you are interested in applying for any of our non-subsidized apartments, please sign up for our Vacancy Notification List to be notified when an apartment is available. If you are interested in applying for a subsidized apartment, please complete a rental application. After you have downloaded the application you may print it, fill it out by hand, and mail or deliver to our office at 22 Keith Ave., Suite 100, Barre, VT 05641. If you are in need of a place to print your application, please see our list of public libraries on our Community Resources page. Our available apartments can change very quickly. We recommend that you request to be put on our Vacancy Notification List by signing up here or calling (802) 477-1329. Rent includes heat, hot water, trash/snow removal and 24 hour emergency maintenance at all properties. Cabot Commons, Evergreen Place, Good Neighbors, Stimson & Graves and the elderly/disabled units at Mad River Meadows also include electricity. Yes. Applicants with a voucher must still meet all other resident qualifications. No, we do not. If you are in need of immediate/emergency shelter, please contact Capstone Community Action. They partner with Good Samaritan Haven to provide temporary and emergency housing. After-hours, please call 2-1-1 if you are in need of shelter. Applications are processed in the order they are received, by date and time. You will be notified of Downstreet's decision within 14 business days* of receipt of your application. If there is a vacancy, you will be notified that your application is being processed for a current vacancy. If there are no vacancies, your name will be added to our waitlist. *Downstreet collects third party verifications immediately; therefore the processing time may vary and in some cases may take longer if verifications are not returned promptly. Yes. An Appeal Letter must be submitted to the Appeals Committee in writing within ten calendar days of receipt of the denial. The letter allows the applicant an opportunity to present any information they believe will support the contention that their application should be accepted.
