In Barre, GMHR allowed RH to repair a roof that had been riddled with difficulties for far too long.
“I am on a military disability and needed a roof,” said RH. “Without the assistance I received from Downstreet I'd still be putting tarps on my roof to keep the rain out.”
In Orange County, KB was able to provide the aid her family needed through GMHR.
“On behalf of my brother, I applied for the $5,000 grant to financially assist him with the installation of a mini split heat pump. His main source of heat is wood, and as he ages, it has become increasingly difficult to continue with this,” explained KB. “I can’t say enough positive things about Downstreet Housing & Community Development, specifically the Green Mountain Home Repair program. The comprehensive process was carefully explained to me and [the team] was more than helpful as the application process moved forward… Most of all, my brother and I were treated with kindness, respect, and dignity.”
And in East Calais, a new set of stairs improved the safety of TL’s home.
“I was able to hire some really great carpenters to build the most beautiful set of stairs,” says TL. “Everyone that sees them exclaims over their beauty. They are solid with a railing and are wide enough to easily and safely traverse. Thank you!”
