A Letter From Our Executive Director

Dear Friends,

Last week, just a year after breaking ground on Fox Run Apartments at Berlin's New Town Center, we gathered to celebrate the opening of 30 beautiful new homes there.

As a mixed-income community, Fox Run will give families stability, allow workers to live near their jobs, support older adults to age in place, and ensure that people from all walks of life can remain in the region they call home.

And because these homes are permanently affordable, this isn’t a temporary solution. It’s a promise—not just for the families moving in this August, but for Central Vermont’s future.

That matters now more than ever. When people can’t afford to live where they work, grew up, or want to grow old the very fabric of our communities is at risk.

Fox Run shows what’s possible when we harness the power of public investment, nonprofit expertise, private partnership, and community will.

It proves that we can build homes that are beautiful, efficient, and truly affordable. That housing development can reflect values we care about like thoughtful design, environmental responsibility, and a deep commitment to community. And most importantly, it proves that we’re not powerless in the face of the housing crisis—we have the tools, the knowledge, and the responsibility to act.

When we celebrated 30 new homes last week, we were also celebrating what they stand for—smart, community-driven development, bold public investment, and the shared belief that safe, stable housing is not a privilege, but a basic human right.

With gratitude,

Angie Harbin
