Maxine supports seniors in their homes in Lamoille County and has been with Downstreet for four years.  She has an MSW from University of Connecticut and formerly worked for Planned Parenthood in Burlington.  She’s a transplant from Maine and lives with her husband and two rescue dogs and enjoys paddling, biking, hiking, skiing, skating, and spending time with her two grand-daughters.

Maintenance Technician

Kris has an Associate’s degree from Plymouth State University in general studies. He has been involved in the construction industry for approximately 10 years. Kris spent time as a small construction business owner in Vermont as well as a building superintendent in Nevada working for one of the country’s largest builders. He enjoys working in the field for Downstreet on a variety of different projects.

Project Coordinator of Real Estate Development

Nicola started working at Downstreet in September 2015. Previously Nicola worked housing the chronically homeless in Vermont, but Nicola is excited to learn more about Real Estate Development. Nicola is a graduate of George Mason University with a degree in Government and International Politics. In Nicola’s free time she enjoys coaching swim team, cooking, watching sports, and being outside.

Maintenance Technician

Ryan has been employed at Downstreet for nearly six years. Prior to that he worked in the field of construction which set the foundation for his current career.  In his spare time he likes wrenching on VW’s, along with other vehicles, and enjoying the great outdoors of the White Mountains in NH where he resides.

Housing Advisor

Kira joined Downstreet in August of 2015. She brings 13+ years of residential mortgage lending/banking experience to helping our clients learn about personal finances, credit building and how to prepare for home purchase. She is honored and passionate about helping our client’s build the skills they need to create financial stability and experience the dream of homeownership. Kira lives in central Vermont with her husband, two college-age kids and dog. Outside of work, she loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, and enjoys several hobbies.

Associate Director of Facilities & Capital Planning

Steve joined the Downstreet team as Maintenance Manager in 2014 and was promoted to Facilities Manager in 2015, overseeing Downstreet’s entire portfolio. He is a NAMP Certified Mold Inspector and also serves on the CVRPC’s Brownsfields Committee. Steve lives in Barre with his wife and three children. In his spare time, Steve coaches his children’s sports teams.

Chief Financial Officer

Allison was recently promoted to Chief Financial Officer of Downstreet Housing & Community Development after being hired as Financial Controller in October 2015. She joined the company with a BSBA in Accountancy, which she received from Suffolk University in 2012. In early 2016, she received an MBA with an accounting focus from Southern New Hampshire University. Prior to her employment with Downstreet Housing & Community Development, Allison spent four years working as an external auditor.

Occupancy Manager

Amy joined the Downstreet team in 2015 as Reception and Occupancy Coordinator.  In 2016 Amy was promoted to Occupancy Manager. Amy enjoys horseback riding, running marathons and camping, and lives with her daughter, son, husband, dog and cat in Washington. Amy has earned her COS certification.

Associate Director of HomeOwnership

Pattie came to Downstreet in July 2012. She previously spent 22+ years working for a local financial organization for which she brings a vast knowledge in the lending arena. Pattie lives in Barre Town with her husband Serge, she has two grown sons and two grandchildren whom she loves spending time with.

Payables Clerk

Megan is excited to join the team at Downstreet as Payables Clerk. She previously worked in various administrative and customer facing roles in both London and New York, and is looking forward to settling back into Vermont living, where she spent her childhood.

In her free time Megan loves music, theatre, and travel. She hopes one day to explore each continent and every state in the US.

Director of Real Estate Development

Alison has been with Downstreet since 2006. Over the past 10 years she has managed twelve real estate projects from infrastructure to rehab to new construction.  She currently serves on the steering committee of the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition.  Alison is a  LEED Green Associate and heads up Downstreet’s Green Team. Alison is a graduate of UVM with a degree in natural resources. Outside of work Alison enjoys a variety of sports including skiing and biking.

Director of Property & Asset Management

Liz Genge is the Director of Property and Asset Management for Downstreet Housing and Community Development; she started at Downstreet as an AmeriCorps Member Resident Organizer in 1999 and is equally performance and mission driven. Liz earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University, has a successful history of working with local organizations to achieve meaningful community partnerships and leads a team of twelve to achieve the financial, physical, and customer service goals to a varied portfolio of 462 units.

Over her tenure at Downstreet, Liz’s work and passion centers on contributing to an organization that provides affordable housing, and with that, opportunities for households to establish roots, security, a sense of belonging and a place of emotional wellbeing.  Liz is currently the co-chair of the local Continuum of Care and member of the Montpelier Housing Task Force.  She lives in Montpelier and enjoys a regular yoga practice, cooking meals with close friends and spending quality time with her family, particularly her God children and nephews in both Vermont and New Jersey.

Communications Manager

Cara joined the Downstreet team in 2013 after a 15+ year career in video production. Her years as a video editor shaped her ability to effectively and succinctly communicate complex ideas in a variety of mediums, depending on what is needed. The mission of providing access to safe, decent and affordable housing is near and dear to her heart, as she witnessed a childhood friend’s struggle with finding such access as an adolescent. Cara lives in Montpelier and enjoys playing guitar, sewing, painting and staying fit.

Jack started at Downstreet in September 2006. Previously he worked as a salesman and service manager for a fire protection company in Southern Vermont. Jack lives in Northfield with his wife, Jodi, and their three children, Danielle, Kierney, and Larry. Along with Jodi, Jack has been a licensed foster parent for 20 years and has had upwards of 40 children in and out of their home. Jack is enthusiastic about the fast pace of his job, and the variety of the duties entailed.  He especially takes pleasure in his relationships with the tenants.

Cheryl came to us with 10 years of experience working at a local financial institution in the lending and processing arenas. She currently lives in Cabot with her husband, Daniel, three children, Mackenzie, Blake and Peter and their dog Bentley.

Eileen started at Downstreet in July 2007. Previously she worked in nonprofits in Vermont and Massachusetts, primarily within healthcare. Eileen lives in Montpelier and has two daughters in college. She is inspired by Downstreet’s mission and excited about being part of a great team.

Maintenance Technician

Nate has been with Downstreet since January 2007.  He is an EPA certified lead renovator, as well as being certified to perform Vermont essential maintenance practices; he has extensive on the job training in building systems and grounds care.  He has aided Downstreet in a support capacity with several of its Montpelier based projects, and enjoys the problem solving challenges and evolving nature of his position.  “The greatest reward for me is not just supporting my community, but being able to directly connect with it person to person through my work.”  He lives in Hardwick with his two boys. His hobbies include paintball, fishing, snow/skateboarding, digital/fiber art, and photography.

Lead SASH Coordinator

Kenneth is the Lead SASH Coordinator for Downstreet’s elder & disabled residential building. He has a Master’s Degree in Occupational  Therapy from Florida International University.   Part of his work here is helping our elder and disabled residents connect to helpful services and organizations in their communities and central Vermont. His work also includes being present regularly in the buildings to help residents stay “happy, healthy & connected”.  He offers them classes in Tai Chi, aerobic exercise and other types of movement fun!  Twice a year he visits his parents in South Carolina (yes, he’s a flatlander!) who are getting older themselves and need some support.  When he’s not at work, he enjoys winter sports, vegetable gardening, UU Society activities, volleyball and hiking with his husband, Harry. They live in the town of Hinesburg, surrounded by their chickens, ducks, geese, horses and the Russell family farm and sugarbush.

Prior to joining the Downstreet team in December of 2006, Rachel had worked in commercial property management in Boston, MA as a Lease Analyst for one of the country’s largest privately owned retail development firms.  Before assuming her current position as Deputy Director of Property Management, Rachel served Downstreet (then known as Central Vermont Community Land Trust [CVCLT]) as a Senior Property Manager, Property Manager, Occupancy Specialist and as Property Management Coordinator.   She currently serves as Vice President of the Vermont Housing Managers Association.  Rachel has a BA in English from Norwich University.  She enjoys spending time camping and hiking with her family, and lives in Barre Town with her husband, three sons, and two dogs.  Rachel has earned her COS and TCS certifications.

Katharine joined the Downstreet team in early 2015 as Property Management Coordinator.  In 2016 Katharine was promoted to Compliance Manager.  Katharine lives with her son, dog, cat and turtle in Bradford, Vermont.  Katharine has earned her COS certification.
