We are looking for a Housing Director to join our team!
Downstreet is seeking an experienced candidate committed to affordable housing and eager to help us manage a portfolio of 300 apartments, align operations with strategic goals, and maintain high standards of resident satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support property management and facilities teams.
- Ensure efficient and effective property management operations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain high standards of property maintenance and resident satisfaction.
- Oversee maintenance and repair activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
- Conduct regular property inspections to identify and address operational issues.
- Prepare and monitor property budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Ensure all properties and operations comply with relevant regulations and laws and compliance standards are met.
- Provide regular reports to senior management, funders, and others on property management activities and performance.
- Other relevant activities as needed.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in property management or an equivalent combination of education, employment, and life experience.
- Experience supervising and supporting staff.
- Strong understanding of fair housing laws and affordable housing programs, including HUD, LIHTC, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
- Proven budgeting abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn relevant software.
- Commitment to equity and inclusion and social and economic justice.
- Valid Vermont Driver’s License and personal vehicle.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer
- Ability to inspect properties including basements and living units with stairs
- Must be able to climb stairs and lift 25 pounds at a time
Compensation
This is a full-time position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
